Tips for a Better Morning

I would consider myself a morning person, but even for me mornings can be difficult on the best of days. I have been working on a few ways to make my mornings a bit easier. These little tips are not going to transform you into someone who jumps out of bed at the crack of dawn with enormous amounts of energy, but they will (hopefully) help you enjoy the process that is mornings. Because, let's be honest, they are here to stay. 


If your coffee has a self timer, use that baby! Set it to start brewing 5 minutes before your alarm goes off, so that by the time you get to the kitchen it's ready for you. There is nothing worse then getting out of bed, grinding your beans, and having to wait for your coffee to brew. 

And, while we are on the topic of coffee, clean your kitchen and table off the night before, so you have a clean and relaxing place to sit and enjoy your coffee. 


I used to be the queen of snoozing. Sometimes I would spend an hour hitting my snooze button. Whenever I did this I would feel sluggish all morning. I even hit the snooze button so often, that sometimes I wouldn't even wake up to hit it, I would somehow grab my phone, and hit snooze while I was still sleeping. As a result, I was late to work more than once. 

Once you hear the alarm, turn it off and jump out of bed. I ended up having to charge my phone on the other side of my room to help me break the habit.  


Before I go up and grab my coffee, I wash my face. It is super simple, but it really helps me get that last bit of sleep out of my eyes. 


This is my favourite tip of all. What you do in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day, if you rush through it, you'll feel like you are trying to catch up for the rest of the day. I always try to wake up at least two hours before I have to be anywhere. That way I can go through my entire morning routine without feeling rushed. I can have my quiet time while I drink my coffee, make breakfast, and get ready all at a leisurely pace.
